ZDay 2012 - Vancouver - Matt Berkowitz - Updating Human Values

Hi all.

As I´m proofreading the portuguese translation, I think there´s one typo in this transcription.

I didn´t find a topic on this video already in here so I started one:

23:35Again, I’ll go more into the science of motivation soon.
23:39

seems to me he actually says:

Again, I’ll go more into the science and motivation soon.

Seems to me he´s saying he´ll go back to discuss how science and motivation go together (with and without competition). In mu opinion, the way he says the "the" and pauses before saying "science" makes me think he is saying " the science and motivation issue" but doesn´t actually say the word "issue".

Science of motivation sounds weird... doesn´t it?

Forget this... it is not a typo! Changed my mind!

Another typo at:

27:18 to record the brain
activity that leads up to
27:22

the verb tense seems to be "led" instead of "leads".

And yet another typo at:

29:54 we haven't yet been able to incorporate this into our value system,
29:59

which I think is actually

"we haven't yet been able to incorporate this value into our value system,"

13:53 Of course, no evidence is ever cited to support this,

13:56 only conjecture and uneducated speculation.

Do we need a coma or semi-colon between these two, after "this"?

A coma makes perfect sense...

First, this is an EXCELLENT lecture put on by Matt! He covers a lot of ground in a smooth way, very informative on the psychology and bio-social side!

OK, all the suggested changes above are valid and then some, as per my attached revised SRT and diff files. As you can see, this turned into a "re-review" of the piece, and I found many more things to fix. Nothing major, just lots of little corrections to align with Matt's actual spoken words.

Can someone plz push the revised SRT out to the working location? OR, unlock the vid and I will push it out myself, thx.

The revised subtitle file has been pushed to both the WL and RL. All languages can see what was changed in the comparison PDF file attached to the above post.

Languages that have translations as of the time of this revision of the English transcription:
In the Working Location ( http://dotsub.com/view/ace1015d-1604-4300-88eb-241eddb57235 ): Czech[100%] , English[100%] , French (France)[100%] , Norwegian, Bokmål (Bokmaal)[100%] , Portuguese (Brazil)[100%] , Portuguese (Portugal)[100%] , Spanish[100%]

In the Repository Location ( http://dotsub.com/view/c93e8691-c7fb-4e70-9cb5-2e8d65f485bf ): English[100%] , Portuguese (Brazil)[100%] , Portuguese (Portugal)[100%]

These languages would need to check their translations to see if they correspond to the revised English original. If changes in the translation are required, then simply apply them in the WL. If your language is in the Repository, you would need to also make a ToDo, so that the translation in the Repository can be replaced with the one in the WL. (Note: these detailed instructions may become outdated in the future. Post in this thread if you are unsure what to do to get your revised translation in the 'official' channels.)
