Future By Design transcript errors

Hi guys,

while proofreading the German subtitles I encountered several errors in the transcript. Now, right to the point. I will use the following reporting style:

time code
old text line
--> new text line, which I am suggesting
(explanation, if necessary)
---------------------------------------------------
13:29
13:33

They're thinking about it was different. And that upset ...
--> Their thinking about it was different. And that upset ...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
15:34
15:38

(Fresco) A guy named Jack Morse was a film producer at the time.
--> (Fresco) A guy named Jack Moss was a film producer at the time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
17:07
17:10

I said "Well, how do you maintain visual isolation?"
--> So they said "Well, how do you maintain visual isolation?"
(Just listen to the video, that's what Fresco says ...)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
18:09
18:11

- These are surgical instruments, aren't they?
--> These are surgical instruments, aren't they?
(still Gazecki speaking, so no need for "-", because the speaker does not change)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
19:41
19:44

And if I was working on an artificial leg

19:44
19:47

and I was $200 behind.
--> and I was $200 behind
(no full stop, because it's not a sentence at all, it goes on ...)
-----------------------------------------------------------
22:55
23:00

Our society seem torn apart and pulled in many directions.
--> Our society seems torn apart and pulled in many directions.
--------------------------------------------------------------
30:54
30:56

Compare it to natural physiology
--> I compare it to natural physiology
-------------------------------------------------------------
34:41
34:44

and the sound would be focused and at some point

34:44
34:48

you stand it right at your ear. So, you can hear Sam in Arabia.
-->
and the sound would be focused at some point

you are standing, right at your ear.
(It is possible to discuss that, but the old version is no correct English in my opinion - I'm not a native speaker.)
------------------------------------------------------------
37:37

which utilizes cranes to lift the components of the building.
--> which utilizes cranes to lift the components to the building.
(listen to Fresco)
-------------------------------------------------------------
39:47
39:51

(Fresco) A monorail is one of the methods of transportation.
--> A monorail is one of the methods of transportation.
(The speaker is not changed, so there is no need to write (Fresco))
-------------------------------------------------------------
41:42
41:46

This wire, or spring, is wound around a mandrill and
--> This wire, or spring, is wound around a mandrel and
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandrel)
--------------------------------------------------------------
51:56
51:59

All right, let's explore the thinking of Jacque Fresco
--> (Larry King) Alright, let's explore the thinking of Jacque Fresco"
(beware, two errors in one line. Larry King speaks his first sentence after a while, so it has to be indicated)
-------------------------------------------------------------
1:00:32
1:00:36

of the structure. The legs are designed to move up and down

1:00:36
1:00:40

to the support the structure and rests on the sea bed.
--> to support the structure and rest on the sea bed.
(Fresco doesn't say this, legs are plural - so no "s" on the verb, "the" used here is neither said nor correct English)
-------------------------------------------------------------
1:05:42
1:05:47

Science is really the ability to predict the next most probable.
--> (Fresco) Science is really the ability to predict the next most probable.
(speaker change from Roxanne Meadows to Fresco, so has to be indicated)
-------------------------------------------------------------
1:10:21
1:10:24

So different... I wonder what god is really like?
--> So different ... I wonder what God is really like.
(it's not a question, so no question mark! "God" always starts with a capital letter)
-------------------------------------------------------------
1:12:27
1:12:30

So, on the down the line, superstition prevails
--> So, on down the line, superstition prevails
(one "the" too much)
-------------------------------------------------------------
1:13:09
1:13:13

"knock wood. Today's my lucky day. When you're number's up, it's up."
--> "knock wood. Today's my lucky day. When your number's up, it's up."
-------------------------------------------------------------
1:13:16
1:13:19

I look at this as everything he's doing
--> (Roxanne) I look at this as everything he's doing
(Roxane speaks after some time, so has to be indicated)
--------------------------------------------------------------
1:13:23
1:13:27

Instead of looking for a better world later after you die.

1:13:27
1:13:30

It's really building the types of things that all religious teachings
-->
Instead of looking for a better world later after you die,

it's really building the types of things that all religious teachings
(The first part is not a sentence so it cannot stand for itself, it has to be connected to the second part)
---------------------------------------------------------------
1:14:33
1:14:36

(Fresco) If people were to ask me to redesign the world
--> (Fresco) If you ought to ask me to redesign the world
(listen to what Fresco says)
---------------------------------------------------------------
1:15:55
1:15:57

- And, yeah, how do you get - from here to there?
--> And, yeah, how do you get - from here to there?
(no change of the speaker in the beginning, so no "-")
---------------------------------------------------------------
1:20:18
1:20:22

People always ask, "How much will it cost to put up these new cities?"
--> (Fresco) People always ask, "How much will it cost to put up these new cities?"
(Frescos speaks again after a longer period, has to be indicated)
---------------------------------------------------------------
1:23:20
1:23:24

-The core mechanism of democratic process in the Future by Design
--> (Gazecki) The core mechanism of democratic process in the Future by Design
(use the same style as several times before that line to indicate a speaker change after long time)
---------------------------------------------------------------
1:23:37
1:23:42

-So, just like a world fair, to show you what's new, what is available
--> (Fresco) So, just like a world's fair, to show you what's new, what is available
(stay with the common style + Fresco says "world's fair")
---------------------------------------------------------------
1:26:09
1:26:12

When people say "Are you trying to build a perfect society?"
--> (Fresco) When people say "Are you trying to build a perfect society?"
(Fresco speaks again after a long time, so indicate it!)
===========================================
Just my two cents and just what I found by accident. ;)

Alright, changes applied to the WL and RL.

Languages that have translations as of the time of this revision of the English transcription:
In the Working Location ( http://dotsub.com/view/15872a88-fbfe-4b18-a47f-10e0ae06fa9f ): Arabic[94%] , Chinese (Simplified)[100%] , Chinese (Traditional)[100%] , Croatian[100%] , Czech[100%] , Dutch[100%] , English[100%] , Finnish[2%] , French (France)[100%] , German[100%] , Greek[94%] , Hebrew[100%] , Hungarian[94%] , Italian[100%] , Latvian[94%] , Lithuanian[100%] , Norwegian, Bokmål (Bokmaal)[12%] , Polish[94%] , Portuguese (Brazil)[94%] , Portuguese (Portugal)[94%] , Romanian[94%] , Russian[100%] , Serbian[100%] , Slovak[100%] , Slovenian[99%] , Spanish[100%] , Spanish (Latin America)[100%] , Swedish[94%] , Turkish[94%] , Vietnamese[94%]

In the Repository Location ( http://dotsub.com/view/fa960ff5-c6bf-4c84-a9a1-f6277c1a27be ): Chinese (Simplified)[100%] , Chinese (Traditional)[100%] , Dutch[100%] , English[100%] , French (France)[100%] , German[100%] , Russian[100%] , Spanish[100%]

These languages would need to check their translations to see if they correspond to the revised English original. If changes in the translation are required, then simply apply them in the WL. If your language is in the Repository, you would need to also make a ToDo, so that the translation in the Repository can be replaced with the one in the WL. (Note: these detailed instructions may become outdated in the future. Post in this thread if you are unsure what to do to get your revised translation in the 'official' channels.)
