Total Enclosure Cities

Does anyone have any idea about what "total enclosure cities" are? In the Greek version of The Best that Money Can't Buy it is translated as cities which have a "fence" all around them. I know that Pangea had consulted a technology professor for the final review, but I feel this translation is not accurate. There is a video of Fresco in which he tries to explain total closure systems, and he brings a cruise ship as an example. He states that "a cruise ship is a total enclosure system because it has everything you need, such as food, accommodation, entertainment etc". Expanding this to a city, I think he means that cities will contain everything you need, and will function as a single organism. What do you think?

Your last sentence fairly well describes them, although it may only provide enough info for those who are already aware of what they are. Someone brand new to the concept will need more info that helps them to better visualize what we're talking about. It's also important to note that "total-enclosure' refers more to a synergistic systems approach to an environment than it does to cities. A high-rise building that contains everything needed by all occupants would also qualify as a total-enclosure system and a single city could contain multiple buildings of this approach.

Total-enclosure refers to the idea that, as you said, everything that's needed will be present within that environment. So, in essence, it means that there is no need for anyone to travel outside of that system (building, city, cruise ship, etc.) unless/until they actually need to travel to somewhere else, such as to visit friends who live somewhere else. This image projects just one of the ideas that Jacque worked up for such a total-enclosure system. In the image, you can see three of them sharing a common 'space' that could be a single 'city' or perhaps three enclosed cities very close together.

Thanks for the feedback. What do you mean by " It's also important to note that "total-enclosure' refers more to a synergistic systems approach to an environment than it does to cities"? Specifically what do you mean by "environment"? Do you mean "buildings, ships etc" or sth else?

The concept of a city is too limiting to be applied to these total enclosure systems. These systems can vary widely, but all provide people with a similar "environment" that satisfies a huge variety of interests & needs. Does that help clarify it?
