OK so I just picked this up and did it myself: transcribed, PR1, timestamp-shifted, PR2-ed, and it's ready for FR. SRT is already pushed out.

This is one of Peter's most advanced lectures and also one of his most dense, ie, fast-talking, and the analysis shows this: it's a bloody carnage, it's a linguistic holocaust, no, I keep sugar-coating it LOL!. OK all seriousness aside, the analysis had almost *six pages* of 70+ char lines, and as a result the output pdf file I usually provide was too big to attach!! (so just gen your own) Regardless, as per my usual defense, these long lines couldn't be helped due to Peter's blistering pace. In the end I was happy to squeeze most lines in under *80* chars instead of the usual 70 chars...

Anyway, most esteemed Lady @Di Anna: are you perhaps back from your holiday hiatus? Sure could use your help on this one for FR...

Final Review underway

Anyway, most esteemed Lady @Di Anna: are you perhaps back from your holiday hiatus? Sure could use your help on this one for FR...

I'm not on holiday hiatus, Mr_B, but I'll take it from here.

Geez... after you've done all that work, how could I say "No".

Will post what I see on this thread, and begin on it tonight.

Glad to hear it Di! So I notice you posted twice. Is that because you got a java error upon your first attempt? Cuz that's what happened to me. Weird.

Also, I noticed that upon checking my work once imported to dotsub that all the single and double quotes are all buggered up! replaced with a question mark in a black diamond character, obviously a language version problem that @Ray: can explain. Perhaps I didn't save in UTF-8 format.

Anyway I am running thru it online and making the fixes by hand, shouldn't take long, and will be ready for you by this eve.

??

I have no idea why the post appeared twice, but I deleted one of them.

No hurries, Mr_B. I will not start it until this eve.

Strange stuff happens in the cyberworld!

Not sure which, if either, of the following issues caused those diamonds in the rough, but we found that SRTs must be kept in both full unicode (character encoding), as well as UTF without BOM (file encoding) if they are to survive all of the various apps & utilities that we might need to put them through. If you're using an app or online tool that does not respect these requirements, one or more of them may be introducing different encoding that causes later-used apps/tools to choke a bit.

It's for this reason that we strongly recommend a well-set up install of Notepad++ for any/all Windows users that occasionally need to open such files in a good text editor (please avoid MS Notepad, Wordpad, and Word, as all MS editors tend to mangle the file encoding)

Final Review is completed

Lordy, is that the truth @Mr_B: I can't believe you managed to put it all together so well. What a terrific lecture, even though PJ was really pressed for time, which anyone can sense in his speech throughout. Yes, there are some LONG strings, but I don't think there's anyway to get around them. I hope our wonderful translators don't decide to gang up on us and find ways to annihilate the English Team. :fc-after-boom:

My most frustrating dilemma in doing the FR was the mixture of single/double quotes. I attempted to be consistent throughout and compatible with what was displayed on the screen. Otherwise, here's a list of the basic edits:

14:04.134
14:07.039
as after this event I'm gonna be shifting gears a bit,

08:25.700
08:28.466

So, if were gonna try to meet this demand with the oil industry,
Changed ‘gonna be’ to ‘going to be’
Changed ‘gonna try’ to ‘going to try’ …

15:19.838
15:23.005
Part I - Emergence of the Arbitrary
Changed it to Part One to match the screen text.

30:29.136
30:31.851
Part II - Rational Imbalance
Changed it to Part Two to match the screen text

15:23.798
15:26.564
As some may know I spent about 6 years of my life
Changed 6 to six. Guideline for numerals under 10 to be written out.

22:32.105
22:33.605
WOW!
Changed WOW to ‘Wow’ to show emphasis but not shouting.

49:11.033
49:13.417
In the past 6 years there's been plenty of discussion
Changed ‘6’ to six. Guideline for numerals under 10 to be written out.

Once again, I don't think there are enough kudos we can give to @Mr_B: for his work on this. I am privileged to be a part of your team, Sweet Sir. :loveya:

OkeeDokee, @brunodc: Open it to translation. I have marked it closed on dotsub.

:bighug: to all,
Di
