No worries, Jon, we have all been through that learning curve :)

Don't hesitate to ask questions if things don't make sense to you, or simply if you have ideas to help improve our process.

Glad to have you on the team! :)

Hi! :) I am timeshifting this one!!

Tell me...
00:05:51,880 --> 00:05:56,266
but WE would have that, because (without it) that means more hospitalization.

this string has 77 characters and It is synchronized. And it has a small duration to allow a split in 2 smaller strings with a comfortable reading time. But I can unsync it a bit because there is silence before the string starts. That means, I can stretch the string space unsync it with the sound but leaving a comfortable space for the split in 2 strings.
But I wonder if it is worth because the text between parenthesis maybe wont be present in the translations, no? is it a help text or is it an unconditional text to be included in all translations. If to be maintained, I would split it. because 77 characters leaves only 7 characters (84-77=7) extra for the translations to fit their text in that string.

I leave it like this until someone lets me know.
hugs :kewlness:

Timeshifting is done on this video
I made notes in the strings that i have split or merged, because the comas, collons and etc rules will have to apply differently, possibly. And I made 2 or 3 notes about english text that it seemed incorrect to my ears. :pig:

Waiting for a second round of proofreading...
hugs,

Hey, Roddy, I think Master Yoda said the same thing to Luke: "There is no try. Only do or do not." Sooooooooooooo...with that in mind, I'm gonna DO this one and give it a Final Review. It will be nice to listen to Master Jacque again!

((((hugs)))) to the LingFamily! :bighug:

Final Review is done!

Hey, sweet people :bighug:

I really love Jacque. He's my hero, and I hope I grow up to be just like him (hm, only 30 more years to go)... I feel confident about the final review though.

Here's my notes to all who came before, in hopes that we will think about what we need to do to work 'smarter' as a team:

I found no periods at the ends of strings to indicate the end of sentences.
Add to Guidelines: Although commas are omitted at the ends of the strings, the use of periods, colons, and semicolons is permitted when appropriate at the ends of strings.

Example of semicolon use and period at the end.
01:41.904
01:44.401
There's a lot of stress in Japan
01:44.797
01:47.413
emotional stress, because they work them
01:47.807
01:50.160
continuously; they order them.

According to our Guidelines, it’s okay to transcribe ‘fuck off’. I noticed that the transcription was ‘goofed off’, and he doesn’t say ‘goofed off’. He says ‘fuck off’, and I really love his tone of voice when he says that. He says it so compassionately. I can't think of anyone who says 'fuck off' as nicely as Jacque. :ahaha: I don’t think we need to edit out profanity.
09:36.812
09:41.614
That's why... Human systems go on strike, they smoke

09:41.764
09:45.500
they go to the bathroom, they fuck off which is all normal

09:45.640
09:48.732
but with machines there's no fuck off.

Good editing example.

Change what Jacque says below:
1:26.609
11:30.811
So I say, “What science is about is predictability.”

To this:
1:26.609
11:30.811
What science is about is predictability.
(Here it is obvious that Jacque IS saying it, so why transcribe 'So I say...')

Although our Guidelines allow for editing, it would not be appropriate to edit out slang/profanity as Jacque uses it here. The transcription had ‘sue the shit’ edited out completely.
Hm...we librarians call that ‘censorship’ :-) --a real ‘no-no’.

I changed it back to this:
14:00.948
14:03.937
When she presses that, the robber falls through the trap door.
14:04.077
14:06.237
It might accidentally go off
14:06.377
14:08.637
and they'll sue the shit out of the bank.

AND NOW... it's ready to go to translations, guys!

Beautiful, Di, you're a queen :)

I'll try to add the extra sentence about commas and punctuation, to make things clear.
