Slovak translator, possibly slovak language coordinator

Hey everyone,

my The Zeitgeist Movement chapter is waking up from almost 2 years of inactivity and new people are interested in helping out, including translation.

I need to get to know how LTI works so that I can direct them around.

Hey,

Let me try to give you a very general overview. :)

We use Pootle for translation of texts and dotsub for translation of video/audio. Both platforms require that you register an account in them. Additionally, in Pootle you have to select your language and projects that you'd like to work on. See these tutorials if you need more detailed directions: http://wiki.linguisticteam.org/w/Help:Pootle , http://wiki.linguisticteam.org/w/Help:DotSUB

For communication we use mainly this forum. You will find that it has various sections which at first can be a bit intimidating, but you will get used to it if you give it some time and follow the everyday activities here (which are most times just a few posts a day). :) Also, every language team has its own dedicated section in the forum where they can solve translation problems, organize themselves, etc.

We also hold bi-weekly meetings on Teamspeak. Every other Saturday at 19:00 UTC. You're very welcome to pay us a visit.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Who is the current Slovak language coordinator? I believe he is not active anymore.

Language coordinators are listed on this page: http://wiki.linguisticteam.org/w/Language_Team_Information

Currently there is no one for Slovak.

Ok, so what does one need to do to become a Language coordinator? Im not sure if I should do it or I should let some other volunteer do it.

I guess you have to attend LTI Teamspeak meetings and manage the translations.

By the way, I will try to get the TZM Czech people in here, they have a lot translated I think.

Well, the language coordinator tries to help build and hold a team together. He/She has to go through a tour of Pootle and dotsub (from the coordinator perspective) in order to be able to manage these tools. Keeping up with lingteam activities and developments and being in the communication loop is also important.

If you'd like to help with that, let me know and we can go through these tours. :)

It seems that I have no other option right now. I will attend the Feb 28th LTI meeting on Teamspeak if everything goes well. There are new people coming into our chapter so I also need to know how to delegate this language coordinator responsibility to someone else.
