Hey Julie, welcome to the team!

It's really nice to see you're willing to put your hands in the dough right away!

A few pieces of advice about the transcription team:
  • Whenever we decide to work on a project, we inform the team by posting in the relevant thread in the Transcription forum. In your case, that would be this thread. This avoids duplicate work and allows the team to keep track of the work being done.
  • During the transcription process, we're trying to follow as many of the LTI guidelines as possible, so as to ensure that the rest of the process gets done as fast as possible.

I hope you'll enjoy being a part of the team and that you'll enjoy the experience! We're here if you need anything :)

Hugs

Well, our system is very simple:

For every project that is started, a new thread is opened.

The simple rule is: 1 project = 1 thread. Then the thread is moving from forum to forum as it's being processed...

In the English Department forum, you'll find 3 sub forums:
  • A Tea and cookies section, to discuss any topic that isn't directly related to ongoing projects
  • A Transcription section, where all new projects are added (Every project starts with a transcription, of course)
  • A Timeshifting and proofreading section. Once transcriptions are done, we move the thread from the transcription section to the proofing section, where the project undergoes a series of proofreadings. We try to make it so that the videos are put into the hands of a minimum of 3 people to try and avoid as many errors as possible.

When we want to start working on something, we inform everybody else thanks to a little post.

If you don't want to keep searching for the relevant thread in the forums for the project you're interested in, you can visit the working locations page in our wiki. You might find it easier to find the info you're looking for over there.

I hope this makes sense, I you have any other queries, please don't hesitate to ask!

Hi Sue,

A belated thank you for the welcome (I'm still getting used to how the forum works) and to let you know how wonderful it feels to be a part of the team.

Hugs back at you,
xx Julie
