Hello from Greece

Hey everybody!

I have been a member of the greek linguistic team for a while now, but I wasn't aware of this section, so now that I found it, I will introduce myself.

My real name is Christos or Chris (the artist formerly known as Jimmy Page Jr.) and I am from Greece. I have been a member of the greek linguistic team for some months and I am currently the auxiliary co-ordinator of the greek ling team. I am 20 years old (as of now that I write these). I am an undergraduate student of English Language & Literature in my local university . I have been a lover of the english/american language and music for as long as I can remember myself. I love foreign languages, I love translating/transcribing, I love reading and writing and I love reading and sharing knowledge, so something tells me the LTI is the place for me :) . I think I am a capable speaker, but I am a terrible listener (I might be a little hearing-impaired from music), so you might have to slow down while talking to me, especially if you have an english accent. Just ask Vixi :)

As a new member, I would like to know all the important stuff for a new-comer. However, please don't overflow me with info, because I get easily "lost".

About the LTI now, I believe it is a living testament to the co-operative and non-utilitarian spirit of human beings and I wanted to let you know that you guys rock! Seriously! Yoy guys rock harder than Led Zeppelin did in their prime. So, that being said, I would like to know if there are any areas in the team that I could help.

Truly yours,
Chris Pap.

PS: Besides the aforementioned ones, my interests are in studying,
learning, watching, communicating, socialising, thinking (generally),
discussing, asking, watching and creating art (mostly music)...and
basically living! So, feel free to contact me any of about these! Share your
knowledge, your thoughts, your likes, your dislikes, your thoughts, your
passions!

Ηey guys, thanks for the warm welcome and the quick response. Some people may not look at it that way (and I am not judging it), but for me it means a lot to be instantly hugged (welcomed, that is) once you join a new team.

Nomada, of course you can use my post any way you like...as long as you don't plagiarize  . There are many words of wisdom in this post and I want to take full credit for them  . Anyway, Di, you probably didn't understand the "I am terrible at listening" part  . I wasn't joking. I meant it. I know it would be a great exercise for me to transcribe, but I don't think the result would be good for the viewer.

By the way, where can I find a briefing about the support groups? Don't get me wrong, but if I am to do something, I want to know that I will enjoy doing it and I will be relatively good at it.

Thanks in advance

Hi Chris,

We don't yet have a brief (or a more detailed) overview of each support group - that's still in the making, unfortunately. But with the meetings and by visiting the dedicated forum sections you should be able to understand what the purposes of each group are. The dev team is for creating automatizing software, the tech team is for tutorials, video and image manipulation, and that sort of stuff, the PR team is for publicizing and integrating efforts and results, etc. It's pretty self-explanatory once you get the general idea. The question is what are you passionate about. :)
