What Promotes Positive Health? - Pt 1. Gabor Maté

http://dotsub.com/view/cd89b06a-b4a0-450c-bc00-46926dd8ed73

23:44 - 23:48
as subtitles put it:

"and they're doing so in the context of their support."

I hear this though, and it seems to fit better inside the context:
"and they're doing so in the context of LESS support."

I agree three! Wow, what an excellent piece. I had not seen this before. Gabor Mate' rocks! Anyway as usual I added a tweak myself:

61
00:03:49,135 --> 00:03:54,245
has a very Western ideology-infused medicine. << I'm pretty sure this should be upper case W in this case. Perhaps Di can verify.

377
00:23:44,861 --> 00:23:48,896
and they're doing so in the context of less support.

Fini.

I did proofreading of portuguese translation of this lecture and it seems to me that in minute 33.13 he does not say "ideological people are blinded" but "ideologically, people are blinded" which makes more sense to me...

Anyone understood it like me?

You are correct Kassy! Barely audible but there, and yes it makes more sense. I also found one more right next to it so the changes are:

FROM

37
00:33:01,853 --> 00:33:06,102
that people can access any sorts of information they want these days,

538
00:33:06,242 --> 00:33:09,796
that has not increased the freedom quotient in our society significantly

539
00:33:09,936 --> 00:33:13,039
because ideological people are blinded.

TO

00:33:01,853 --> 00:33:06,102
that people can access any sort of information they want these days,

Again, good catch!

Why? Because the early environment changes the brain,

I think he says:
Why? Because the early environment shapes the brain,

I also would like to add this:
00:37:45,114 --> 00:38:02,235
Therefore, the recent Canadian report about mental health, about how
between 6 and 7 million Canadians are affected by mental health issues,
that's probably an underestimate,
but that's one quarter, or one in every five,
and 50% of North American adults have some chronic physical illness.

Does he make a mistake or he means that the actual number of canadians is one qurter but the statistics show it's one fifth?

Seeing that Canada's population is 35 million, and hearing the way he says it, I think it's either a mistake that he makes at first, or he's just calculating it on the fly and says one value, but then makes a better approximation about one in how many that is.

Are the last two corrections transfered to Dotsub? Is it free for translation again? I would like to know, whether we could start translating it into German or not. Dotsub is still blocked.

Is there any way the German team could help (after completing the subtitles which are currently in progress there)?
We do not have the rights to do anything in Dotsub - just normal user accounts. What is needed to go on with this project? In the "ready for translation" section the last comment states, that it can be translated.

The transcription was open and so the translation closed. Maybe someone making corrections in the transcript, after the error report, forgot to open the translation again.
The working location is here: Gabor Maté - What promotes positive health?

The original thread seems to have no news neither: [English] Gabor Maté - What promotes positive health? [Done]

There is a lot to be done in admin tasks and very few people to do it. We could improve this situation either by having more people doing these tasks or by making the system simpler, or both.

Have fun, ossi! This is a great video! ; )

There was only one change, as far as I could see. Here it is:

FROM

00:29:00,854 --> 00:29:04,364
Why? Because the early environment changes the brain,

TO

Why? Because the early environment shapes the brain,

This change is now applied to the WL and RL.

Languages that have translations as of the time of this revision of the English transcription:
In the Working Location ( http://dotsub.com/view/cd89b06a-b4a0-450c-bc00-46926dd8ed73 ): Bulgarian[1%] , Czech[100%] , English[100%] , French (France)[100%] , Hungarian[1%] , Portuguese (Brazil)[100%] , Portuguese (Portugal)[100%] , Serbian[100%] , Spanish[100%]

In the Repository Location ( http://dotsub.com/view/19a3bcc5-57e4-4357-a2c2-8a82d5332013 ): English[100%] , French (France)[100%] , Portuguese (Portugal)[100%] , Serbian[100%] , Spanish[100%]

These languages would need to check their translations to see if they correspond to the revised English original. If changes in the translation are required, then simply apply them in the WL. If your language is in the Repository, you would need to also make a ToDo, so that the translation in the Repository can be replaced with the one in the WL. (Note: these detailed instructions may become outdated in the future. Post in this thread if you are unsure what to do to get your revised translation in the 'official' channels.)
