ZDay 2012 - Vancouver - Peter Joseph - 'Origins and Adaptations' (Part 1)

Hi folks.

I´m proofreading the portuguese translation to this one and here´s a typo:

04:09 04:12 a great deal of attention has being paid in the public media

it should be "has been" or "is being" and it seems to me PJ actually says the 1st one.

Here´s the working location .

Okay folks, I really need your help with this one.

at 18:49 18:52 who might invest their free cash into CDs

Are CDs actually Compact Disks, just normal regular plain simple compact discs... or is this some sort of financial/economic product. It would make more sense since PJ is talking about how the rich get money to invest... but... invest in CDs? ?(

Hi Kassy,

I think he refers to Certificates of deposit.

By the way, just wanted to let you know that there is this division that we make between threads in which we report errors in the transcription and threads in which we ask questions related to translation. If you go to this link and scroll down, you will see all the threads with translation questions. No big deal, just making it easier for everyone else to benefit from the info.

Yeap... sounds like it...
Thank you very much Lizzie...

BTW, I never seem to get it right... :headache: because I do look for a discussion relating to the video I´m translating but I never seem to find one... :seymour:

hmm

29:00 29:02 that's going to waste more and more.
I definitely can hear a "basically" as in "that's basically going to waste more and more."

Not too important though...

32:43 32:47 I'm sure they were very good friends, but once they turned their intention

I´m almost sure he says "atention" instead of "intention". Not too clear though...

OK, I did a couple other small tweaks in addition to those above, to better align with Peter's actual spoken words. In particular Peter mis-speaks the phrase "time immemorial" as "time immorial" ("time memorial" in the current SRT) and it is important to correct this along with the other small changes as noted. Revised SRT and diff files are attached. Plz push out the SRT and post notification, thx.
Mr_B has attached the following files:
Signature from »Mr_B« Mr_Z (the miscreant formerly known as Mr_B)
English Dept coord

Revised subtitle file has been pushed to both WL and RL. You can see the changes in the comparison PDF file attached above.

Languages that have translations as of the time of this revision of the English transcription:
In the Working Location ( http://dotsub.com/view/2042b71c-fdb7-4514-9cae-b568582d3c23 ): Czech[100%] , English[100%] , French (France)[100%] , Italian[64%] , Portuguese (Brazil)[100%] , Portuguese (Portugal)[100%] , Russian[100%] , Serbian[7%] , Spanish[99%]

In the Repository Location ( http://dotsub.com/view/71b7afad-0995-441a-8662-75dad608923b ): Czech[100%] , English[100%] , French (France)[100%] , Portuguese (Brazil)[100%] , Portuguese (Portugal)[100%] , Russian[100%]

These languages would need to check their translations to see if they correspond to the revised English original. If changes in the translation are required, then simply apply them in the WL. If your language is in the Repository, you would need to also make a ToDo, so that the translation in the Repository can be replaced with the one in the WL. (Note: these detailed instructions may become outdated in the future. Post in this thread if you are unsure what to do to get your revised translation in the 'official' channels.)
