TZM Defined - "how critical being vulnerable really is when it comes to belief systems"

In TZM Defined page 11, last paragraph(Essay 1: Overview, Superstition to Science, last paragraph).

the term - "how critical being vulnerable really is when it comes to belief systems" - as in below.

"Such established institutions, as they could be called, often wish to maintain permanence due to reasons of ego, power, market income or general psychological comfort. This problem is, in many ways, at the core of our social paralysis. So, it is important to recognize this pattern of transition and realize how critical being vulnerable really is when it comes to belief systems, not to mention coming to terms with the rather dangerous phenomenon of established institutions which are culturally programmed and reinforced to seek self-preservation rather than evolve and change."

does it mean that "it is important to not being strong at believing things(to have a superstition)" or does it mean that "it is dangerous and helpless when confronting the belief system" or "it is dangerous to show weakness when confronting the belief system"?

Hi Kton,
It refers to the first option you suggested, i.e. that it is critical to our growth and understanding that we maintain the ability to recognize when a belief, idea, or approach is no longer serving us personally and/or socially.
