Jacque Fresco - Research & Development

Researching and developing solutions is the only way for a society to move forward. The answers do not lye in electing the right people to government. Future by Design Documentary. ( 02:19 )

@Ray:

れいさん、こんにちは。

I have a question,please tell me.
About translation from 08 seconds to 11 seconds, 11 seconds to 15 seconds.

①00: 08
00:11
You can't find the answers

②00: 11
00:15
by putting people of high moral character in government.

As a Japanese translation, it is natural to translate in the order of ② → ①.

For example, in "paradise or oblivion",
Assuming that 23 to 26 seconds is 1 and 26 to 30 seconds is 2, the Japanese translation of 1 is written in 2 and the Japanese translation of ② is written in ① column.

①00: 23
00: 26
We have the brains, the know-how, the technology

②00: 26
00:30
and the feasibility to build an entirely new civilization.

②我々は全く新しい、実現可能な文明を築くための、

①知力も、方法も、技術も持っているのに。

Input field is reversed.

Translated naturally in Japanese context is OK?

If I am understanding your message correctly, yes, you want to translate it into natural Japanese as much as possible.
As an example, we call The Venus Project's proposal a "Resource Based Economy" in English, but it is changed to "an Economy Based on Resources" in Spanish (Economía Basada en Recursos).

The most important goal is for Japanese speakers who do not understand English to understand the Japanese text that they are reading. So it makes sense to adjust the grammar to whatever is natural for Japanese. Differences in the related time stamps may cause it to be more difficult to reverse or otherwise change sentence structure in some places because one of them does not provide enough time for the reversed subtitle to be read before it changes, but that is part of the, hopefully, enjoyable challenge. In other words, you are the best 'expert' at what the Japanese people need from a translation subtitle, so it is up to you to try to solve these situations as best as you can. :rose:

It also helps to post such situations to the forum, as you have done here, so that other Japanese translators might see and respond to them in time. It might also encourage one or more to get involved with translating or proofreading the translations of others, which would be of great help to us all.

That is wonderful news, Yuki-san!
Now that the translation is completed, I have changed the thread's title prefix to show that it is now ready for someone else to proofread the translation.

This also means that you are free to select another project to translate, or if you feel your English/Japanese skills are strong, you may prefer to proofread someone else's translation.
As we have discussed before, translators may select any project that has not already been started by their team (from the Open for Translation section of the forum), or they can choose to finish a project that has been started, but not yet fully translated (from the Japanese Team's Current Projects section).

I also see that @miroku: has posted that he is available to collaborate with you on a project, so perhaps the two of you can discuss a project that you can focus on together. :)

@brunodc:, @Ray:, @YukikoK:

OK,
I reviewed the video and translation and edited a few lines - the 1st: the line mentioning 'scarcity', and the line "[You can have] all the laws". 3 lines in total. Other than that, translation is good. ^^

みろくさん、ありがとうございます。
all laws in the world の部分は、どう訳すか迷っていたのです。
なるほどって感じです。
これで公開して良いんですかね?
公開方法ってご存知でしょうか。

@Ray:
The translation is complete and proofreading was also done by miroku.
Should I do further proofreading?
If it is OK, please let me know how to publish.

Our aim is always to collaboratively develop and publish to the world the best translations possible. Ideally, each translation should be proofread by two other people who did not work on the translation. However, some materials are very short and may only require a single proofreading before everyone agrees that it is ready for publishing. Other materials may be very long and might benefit from the review of more than two proofreaders. Each team must learn from experience what works best for their team, their situation, and the expectations of the native speakers that they are striving to reach with this information. :)

So if there is consensus among all of you that this translation is now as accurate as all of you can make it, then you only need to make me aware that you all agree that it is ready to publish.
I will then take care of the publishing.
