Shane-China

G'day everyone,

Here introducing myself, I'll be working on all things subtitily and transcriptions as well. I live in China, and I'm an earthling by birth :-)

I'll be using Aegisub to work, so if anyone has any tips about it, they would be much appreciated!

Hugs,

Shane.

Hey Shane, welcome to the English department!

Obviously, since you live in China, I have to ask, to do have access to dotSUB?

Hi Brunodc,

Unfortunately I cannot access dotsub, the great firewall of china blocks it.

Hi Shane and Bruno : )
We exchanged some emails already, me and Shane, where I was trying to explore the possibilities of Shane downloading the videos and work the transcription offline with VisualSubSync or another software. Shane couldn't install VSS so he will try with Aegisub. The major problem is the download of the videos :ponder: There was TOR also, that you were trying to get lately, right? how is it going?
What about this links I sent to you? Do they work?
http://www.tomatosoft.biz/blog/2010/04/1…blocked-by-isp/
http://youtubedownloader.tomatosoft.biz/…er_Setup_11.exe

I think that some tool must exist to take videos out of youtube even that you can't watch them. But I am also thinking that, if Albert downloads the videos from our dotsub location and uploads them on the Chinese videos website, Tudou, where they upload their translations, the videos must have the same length, no? Couldn't Shane just download them from Tudou, after Albert uploads them there, Bruno?

Hugs, and welcome to the forum, Shane :bighug:

I've tried the links, and TOR is blocked-so perhaps the other way you suggested-Albert uploading the videos to Tudou is a better approach. I'll send him an email to see what the go is.

Hugs!

We use the wiki:

http://wiki.linguisticteam.org/w/Linguis…a_Center/Videos

Let us know how it goes with Albert, I'm sure we can figure out a system where you download the videos from tudou so that you can transcribe them, meanwhile we lock the video until you're done and you send us the transcription!

We have to figure out a system anyway, because more and more of us are transcribing/timeshifting offline :)

Hey hey,

Albert said it firefox download helper seems to be able to get the videos off Tudou. I looked at that Wiki, and I only saw three videos up there atm. Does that mean transcriptions are not needed atm?

Hi Shane

There is something new for transcription!! a new JF talk. That could be a start. If you wish to do that one, post on the forum before uploading and downloading the video to Tudou website, so no one else takes it

let me know if all is ok and if you have questions about the guidelines .

hugs
