Part 3

Feels great to have you around Andy, with your knowledge in several technical areas :kewl:

I wonder if Dimi didn't save the SRT in UTF-8 before uploading it to the forum and I uploaded it into the dotsub location (he timeshifts offline). This is the typical example when unusual characters become ? marks.

@Dimi: VSS saves in UTF8, but maybe you have to change the settings first? Subtitle Edit also :thumbup:

I can check the timeshifting again, in case those strings you mentioned are of uncomfortable/too fast reading or so, Andy. The Final Reviewer might be able to let us know? :eyeroll:

Part 3 - Final Review COMPLETED

This one ready to go to translations now.

To all you ninjas who worked on this before me, I've prepared a diff file and I'll communicate with you in a Forum PM soon. I made a lot of changes and I thought we could learn a lot from each other by discussing. Actually, I'm questioning my own sanity in making some of the changes. :fc-crazy: Jacque's talks are not always easy to interpret, especially his little stories with dialogue between people known only as 'they' or 'he'. This is a great opportunity for some GREAT teamwork, gang. I'll be in touch with y'all.

Love ya for the BIG effort!
((hugs)) :bighug:

Part 3

Hi fellas,

Since I've been working a lot on this lecture, I thought I might just watch it and see if I can find anything that doesn't seem right. Very hard material we have here... Anyways, here's a few points of consideration:

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:02,925
continued... (part 3 of Lecture)

Do we need 'Lecture' capitalized?

00:01:46,231 --> 00:01:51,198
Money is a control device to a limited extent.

A comma after 'device' to correspond more clearly to Jacque's words that money is a control device, but its extent is limited?

00:05:19,997 --> 00:05:23,842
If you pin them down, what do you think The Venus Project is?

I think this should be: If you pin them down: "What do you think The Venus Project is?"

00:07:46,274 --> 00:07:49,461
- Yes, what's the difference? - Yes I don't see any.

Should perhaps be: Yes, I don't see any.

00:09:45,438 --> 00:09:48,813
He says "How do you see that? How do you mean that?" I say

I think Jacque corrects himself here. Only How do you mean that? is what he wanted to say. "How do you see that?" doesn't make too much sense in this context, and Jacque is clearly acting like he is correcting himself.

00:11:23,301 --> 00:11:26,669
You don't know which is the right one. That doesn't make sense.

Pretty hard one. Big mumble at the beginning, but I think his point is that the question "Which is the right one?" doesn't make sense. If he says "You don't know", then his second sentence loses reference (what does it refer to?). But I understand his second sentence as an answer to the first one. So therefore the mumble can be left out:

"Which is the right one?" That doesn't make sense.

00:13:36,583 --> 00:13:39,160
But it's better for business,

That should be a period at the end here, I guess.

Part 3

Hey, fellas
I was hoping someone else would respond. Because I did the FR, it probably needs another set of eyes and ears, but here's my answer:

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:02,925
continued... (part 3 of Lecture)

Do we need 'Lecture' capitalized? -- I would say' 'no' we do not.

00:01:46,231 --> 00:01:51,198
Money is a control device to a limited extent.

A comma after 'device' to correspond more clearly to Jacque's words that money is a control device, but its extent is limited?
It would not be grammatically correct to insert the comma, but if you think it's helpful because it fits his intonation, I don't object.

00:05:19,997 --> 00:05:23,842
If you pin them down, what do you think The Venus Project is?

I think this should be: If you pin them down: "What do you think The Venus Project is?"
(Ok, but our Guidelines are recommending that we omit the colon before the direct quote as the quotation marks are an indication of such.)

00:07:46,274 --> 00:07:49,461
- Yes, what's the difference? - Yes I don't see any.

Should perhaps be: Yes, I don't see any. (Agreed)

00:09:45,438 --> 00:09:48,813
He says "How do you see that? How do you mean that?" I say

I think Jacque corrects himself here. Only How do you mean that? is what he wanted to say. "How do you see that?" doesn't make too much sense in this context, and Jacque is clearly acting like he is correcting himself. (I think "How do you see that?" in this context means "How do you interpret that?" So, it made sense to me. )

00:11:23,301 --> 00:11:26,669
You don't know which is the right one. That doesn't make sense.

Pretty hard one. Big mumble at the beginning, but I think his point is that the question "Which is the right one?" doesn't make sense. 00:13:36,583 --> 00:13:39,160
But it's better for business,

That should be a period at the end here, I guess. (Agree)

Lizze is right about the Jacque talks NOT being easy, especially the mumbles.
((hugs)) from me,
Di

Changes applied; translation reopened. Some corrections were very important in arriing at the exact meaning of what Jacque was saying. Nice dedication there Lizzie? There is no Bulgarian translation started yet? what moved you to review the Final Review? Maan! You're everywhere!! :D

With this interpretation of "how do you see that?", it makes sense to me, too. :)

Actually, there is a Bulgarian translation that was made outside of dotsub, and I've reviewed it quite a bit, spending time thinking on many translation problems posed by the lecture's content, so that's why I went here and decided to give it another look. :D

Part 4 - Final Review COMPLETED

What a great Jacque talk this is about behavior and what it takes to be happy! I loved it!

Let's send it to the translators, just in case they want a break from TBTMCB. :giggle:

I would like to discuss the errors I found with English proofers and timeshifters. I was most concerned about seeing some of those old problems I thought we had gotten rid of like:

(1) the lower case I, which is not acceptable
(2) contractions, which ARE acceptable
(3) lots of run-on sentences, NEVER acceptable (Asking Charles Dickens to forgive me for this :ahaha: )
(4) And, it's not 'Seminal Indians' but 'Seminole Indians'.

Please take some time to look at the Diff File to ask questions and stimulate discussion. The file is HERE.

((BIG hugs to a BIG TEAM effort)),
Di :bighug:
