Informacija apie Pootle

For anyone who didn't get this info from the Coord meetings:

Before he went on 'walkabout', Ivan updated Pootle to the
latest version, but didn't realize that what got installed was an early
"alpha" of the 2.2 version they had just recently begun working
on. Well, they are still working on that
all this time and the most stable release is still in the 2.1.x series.

Translation: We can't
roll Pootle back to the current stable version without breaking it and there is
not a more complete alpha or beta available for us to update to. So, we're stuck with the current install
until the Pootle developers release a stable version at or beyond the version
we currently have installed here.

Ray / Gman: So, to explain it as fully as we can, when
Pootle tells you that you have reached the end of the document, don't trust
it. Instead, look to the bottom right
corner of the page and make sure it's showing the same number in the editable
box as it has on the other side of the '/' symbol.

If it shows 4/4, then you really have reached the end

If it shows 2/4, then you need to replace the '2' with a '3'
and press Enter for Pootle to expose the remaining 'yet-to-be-translated'

Hi Laura,

Sorry you guys got hit with this. The Pootle team are hard at work getting Pootle 2.2 ready for release. There are quite a few people using 2.2 already, so even though we listed that release at Alpha a number of people are using it in production.

If you see issues with your current version can you please check if they are present in the latest testing version available at if the issues is not fixed there then please report a bug at so that we can fix it before the final release. Thanks a million.

Hi Dwayne,
If you're following this thread, the only truly major bug we've encountered occurs when moving through longer PO files. As the translator progresses, the PO file naturally moves through the strings with them. However, some of them will eventually reach what appears to be the end of the PO file, but a glance at the bottom right corner shows that they are only on page 2 (or 3) of 4. The only workaround has been to manually replace the '2' with a '3' and press the Enter key, revealing more of the PO yet to be translated. The problem, of course, is that not all translators will notice that there is more to the PO file. On a related note, I have not seen nor heard of any incidence where the page number had to be manually advanced more than once, regardless of the number of pages.
