"...we are amply shaped by society..." - Sapolsky

These clarifying words from Robert Sapolsky are taken from Zeitgeist Moving Forward. The original image created with a portuguese translation is in attachment and can also be found here: Image location in facebook

Feel free to reply to this thread with a translation from the text bellow, preferentially already proofread by your language team partners, so we can create a new version with it and add it to the LTI page albums: http://www.facebook.com/LinguisticTeamIntl/photos_albums

Text in the image, to be translated
"...we are amply shaped by society. (...) In a broad sort of way, different large societies could be termed as individualistic or collectivist, and you get very different people and different mindsets and, I suspect different brains coming along with that. (...) By definition, the more stratified a society is, the fewer people you have as peers; the fewer people with whom you have symmetrical, reciprocal relationships and instead, all you have are differing spots and endless hierarchies. A world in which you have few reciprocal partners is a world with a lot less altruism." - Robert Sapolsky

Have fun! : )

In Spanish

"...estamos profundamente moldeados por la sociedad. (...) - Robert Sapolsky

Hola Ramiro!! :) Thank you for the translation in Spanish! yuhuuu! We are going to have one more version ;) Can you let us know if this translation was revised by the anyone in the Spanish team? As we are going to embed it on an image and spread it around the world, we better check if the translation is at its best, just in case. Be kind to keep us update on this, if you can, or anyone else from the Spanish team.

In Italian (to be proofread)
"...Siamo ampiamente plasmati dalla società. (...) - Robert Sapolsky

Hello, how about this translation into SPANISH? :)

"...Estamos ampliamente moldeados por la sociedad. [...]

translate in to Slovak

Slovak version :)

...sme výrazne formovaní spoločnosťou. (...)
V širšom zmysle by bolo možné rôzne veľké spoločnosti nazvať
Podľa definície viac vrstvovej spoločnosti je, menej ľudí
s ktorými ste rovesníkmi, menej ľudí, s ktorými
máte zladené vzájomné vzťahy, a namiesto toho,
všetko, čo majú, sú odlišné označenia a nekonečné hierarchie.
Svet, v ktorom budete mať len niekoľko vzájomných spoločníkov
je svet s oveľa menším altruizmom. "

Hello, guys! :)

The text in Spanish is bigger than the text in English... So I need to adapt it using another font, as you can see...

But I think it's ok! ;) What do you think?

If you find any error, please let me know!

Thet, thanks for the translation in Slovak! :rose:

my english is not exellent, but I'm trying to do something :)

REVISED VERSION:

...sme výrazne formovaní spoločnosťou. (...)
V širšom zmysle by bolo možné rôzne veľké spoločnosti nazvať
Podľa definície čím viac je spoločnosť vrstevná, tým menej ľudí
máte ako rovesníkov, menej ľudí, s ktorými
máte zladené vzájomné vzťahy, a namiesto toho,
všetko, čo máte, sú odlišné označenia a nekonečné hierarchie.
Svet, v ktorom budete mať len niekoľko vzájomných spoločníkov
je svet s oveľa menšou nesebeckosťou. "

Hi Martin!
my english is not exellent, but I'm trying to do something
But your image editing skills, as we can see in that TVP Slovakian facebook, are great! What do you think of us finding a system to share image files between us, from where you and Daniela could download the raw files and help editing new versions whenever you see new proofread translations posted here? Maybe we can upload the raw file as an attachment to each forum thread's initial post? This could make collaboration really easy and free from anyone who wishes to join ^^
