Quoted

The video of Jacque's TEDx presentation is already making rounds across Facebook. It was also uploaded into the LTI dashboard and has its full transcription completed already (but not yet proofread).

However, TED's procedure for it being added to their main site (which will be a MAJOR boost for global awareness) requires that it first be handled by them, posted to the official "TED" YouTube channel and then receive 15,000 hits there. If we continue sending it everywhere in Facebook, the time it will take for it to reach 15K on TED's YouTube will greatly increase (and this awareness campaign doesn't have the luxury of waiting through such delays). Please note that this plea applies equally to Peter Joseph's TEDx video, although I have not yet heard of that one being spread already.

As a result, I've temporarily hidden the LTI uploads and am asking (begging, if that works better) for everyone to refrain from spreading the 'bootleg' version that is already out on YouTube. If it's not on the TED channel, please don't push the play button (that's what triggers a 'view'). Save your 'views' for the one that will gain the video MUCH more global attention on the main TED website. Once it's on the main TED site, all bets are off and we can all upload and promote the hell out of it. - Ray :D

English SRT

Evaluate the quality of that, maybe I can share with transcriptors and time coders my techniques, I did great amount of research in times prior on how to synch and transcribe subtitles, so just check that out, anybody out there on the forum.

Hope it helps :)

OK Gang, PR2 is done, I pushed my revised SRT to working location, and diff and analysis files are attached.

I have two comments about this astounding video:

1) It is DENSE. Peter is so focused on "economy" he has turned INTO a verbal one with his words :) . Seriously, as can easily be seen in the analysis, with its dearth of "70+" strings, he is talking so fast in such short bursts that we end up with such excessive strings as a matter of course. But to try to split them runs the risk of making one or the other (or both) too short timewise! ie, less than 2 secs each. I did take a crack at doing this with one or two lines for clarity (as per the diff file), but overall I would would tend to leave the rest alone.

2) It is ASTOUNDING! (Yes I know I already said that!) It's not just that Peter is near perfect with his concise, tight and articulate delivery here, which we now almost take for granted these days as he continues to mature. It's how Peter contagiously whips up the audience to a high level of excitement! Listen to their response at the very end: they don't just applaud loudly, they burst out in hoots and hollers! Like they just enjoyed a rock star finishing his hit song or something! Or someone scored a touchdown! I find this amazing. Whether Peter wants this crowd pleaser image or not, it's like he's getting so good that he is achieving some kind of Michael Jordan effect here. And that's a good thing!

I hope this gets translated to the max!!
