Dear LTI members,

Over the past few years, we have been able to accumulate experience in regards to video publishing and content management on YouTube, along with copyright infringements that might result from the uploading of some of the materials we have transcribed and translated.
This thread is meant to inform you of those bits of wisdom and will hopefully shed some light on some of the choices we made when it comes to publishing those contents.

We've summed up the contents that might be flagged or taken down by YouTube on the following table, as well as the materials for which we haven't received clearance from its owners (yet), which we advise not to upload until the situation is clarified. Please note that those that are only 'monetized' (may display ads) are not listed here, as such claims pose no threat to our YT channels.

Future By Design	Repo	William Gazecki has graciously passed the full ownership for "Future by Design" to TVP. A previously-existing copyright claim by SME had the video blocked in 21 countries. That claim was removed, but is now back again, and there is also a new claim from BuzzMyVideosMusic that blocks it all over the world. We are disputing these claims and will report back here on the results. Once resolved, Roxanne has requested that we link all LTI uploads of this core documentary back to the TVP store, so that TVP/RBE supporters will have the opportunity to get the full set with lots of extra content added (including the full Larry King interview), if desired. TVP has since uploaded a better quality version with slightly longer length, causing our subs to be out of sync. Please see the first post in the main project thread for the important details, as each team will need to adjust their existing subs to the new transcription.	OK * for re-upload!
It's Time To Change series	Repo	YouTube will flag some of them, but no action is required from the uploader. Please note that those videos will be flagged for third party content for multiple holders and they might be blocked in several counties.	OK for upload
Jen Wilding - From the Great Escape to an Improved Reality - Z-Day, 2013	Repo	Video contains a short MLK clip that causes the video to be fully muted. LTI's copyright dispute, which explained that only a very small clip was used at the very end of a contextually related lecture, and that MLK received full on-screen credit throughout that clip, proved successful in removing the claim.	OK for upload
Peter Joseph - The Revolution of Values	Repo	Due to a claim by SME, this video is blocked in Germany.	OK * for upload
Psywar	Repo	Permission obtained from the creator, Scott Noble, but due to two song snippets (copyrights held by SME and The Orchard Music), this is blocked in 5 countries: American Samoa, Germany, Puerto Rico, United States, United States Minor Outlying Islands. We are disputing the claims, so stand by.	OK * for upload
Religion	Repo	Due to a claim by SME, this video is blocked in Germany.	OK * for upload
Roxanne Meadows on Human Behavior - Z-Day 2010	Repo	Due to a claim by UMG, this video is unavailable on some devices (video game consoles or set-top boxes).	OK for upload
Technological Unemployment and the Fight for the Right to Slavery	Repo	Due to a claim by CBS CID, this video is unavailable on some devices (video game consoles or set-top boxes).	OK for upload
The Bribe Mentality: Neglecting and Derailing Intrinsic Motivation	Repo	Due to a claim by SME, this video is blocked in Germany.	OK * for upload
The Choice is Ours (2016) Full Version	Repo	Due to a claim by RTP (for CNN), this video is blocked globally. The section in question is the small CNN interview snippet with Vinod. To dispute the copyright, both TVP & LTI put in a claim for "fair use", as it is only a very small snippet of the full interview, it is being used for educational purposes, and it is likely to entice new people to go to their site to seek access to the full interview. Our counter-claim was not contested by any of the parties involved for CNN.	OK * for upload
Welcome to The Mars Project	Repo	Due to a claim by UMG, this video is unavailable on some devices (video game consoles or set-top boxes).	OK for upload
Z-Day 2010 Opening	Repo	Due to a claim by UMG, this video is unavailable on some devices (video game consoles or set-top boxes).	OK for upload
Zeitgeist movies featured in "Il Senso della Vita"	Repo	It is a TV broadcast whose rights are held by R.T.I. The content won't be flagged by YouTube, but R.T.I will ask YouTube to take it down, and uploaders will lose their unlimited upload rights. For this reason, we have fully removed this video from LTI's projects and advise all others to do the same.	NOT OK for upload

In addition to the above, here is the latest list of videos that have claims where the only result is the monetization of the video by the copyright holders. These videos are fine for upload and no further action is required from the uploader.

Also note that Jacque Fresco on the problem of superstitious ignorance triggers a claim where they do absolutely nothing to/with the upload, which is rather odd in today's greed-based world o' biznich.

NOTE: as you might have noticed from this table, some videos might be blocked or otherwise limited for silly reasons, like a song which is bound by copyrights. We have to study the possibility of removing (muting, cropping out) those sections to get rid of those "third-party content" warnings.
