This makes really good sense to me, Marlyse, but would you clarify a bit more? How about when we need to identify the speaker with name in parentheses?
(J.Fresco) -Do you like that? -Yes. -- Would it be like this?

Also, when you say two spaces, is one of those actually a hyphen? ('two spaces followed by a hyphen' sounds like space, space, hyphen.)

Di, usually the identifier is only for off-voices, i.e. when the speaker is not on the screen. It is extremely rare to have dialogues with both speakers not in the visual.
In such cases you would have to write (PJ)-Do you like that? (JFK)-No, not at all. This will solve the problem of faulty separation between identifier and dialogue in DotSub.
When I say two spaces, I do mean space-space-hyphenNoSpaceText. So it would read like this -Do you like that? -Yes.

So the QuickRef would read: "In a dialogue, the speakers are separated by two spaces followed by a hyphen, with no space after the hyphen. (-Do you like that? -Yes.)

I removed the "always", because it obviously does not apply at the beginning of a line.

Is that clearer ?
:loveya:

PS: I think that the Forum actually removes additional spaces... So we still see only one space between the speakers here, even though I typed two in my example. Will try adding one more...

How do you make unremovable spaces ? The Forum again removed the extra spaces I put in !

Ah, yes, Marlyse
That is clearer. I don't know about formatting in the Forum... interesting.

One thing, there are a lot of 'videos' which are really 'audios' -- in the older Jacque talks, the speakers are not on the screen at all, usually a pic of TVP etc. So, sometimes we'll have to use that 'speaker identification' guideline. We'll need to make sure it's explained in the Guidelines clearly, too.

Maybe @Ray could address the formatting issue?
((hugs))

Nice suggestions and conclusions! : )
As you are familiarized with the wiki, Marlyse, could you update the guidelines and the quickies? I am getting a bit lost in several tasks here and it would be a relief and joy - as it has been until now - if you are still around dealing with the guidelines :loveya: Love is indeed extensionality! Thanks for being there, both of you. I'll ive in someportuguese proofreading since they are accumulating a bit :D
