Culture in Decline - Episode #6 - Tale of Two Worlds

Peter Joseph shows off his fresh new Time Machine, guiding the audience through a vision of two possible futures. Hahaha, we had that conversation on Skype Wednesday, Nomada. ;)

There was a chunk missing in the middle of the transcript, which somehow screwed up the timing of all the following strings :huhwhat: I ended up deleting the last approx. 2 minutes of subs which was, needless to say, a lot easier than trying to fix them all backwards, if you know what I mean. (Trying to fit in a 09:00:00 sub when all the following are 08:00:00).

Anywho, still plodding along. For the record, I do prefer transcribing to proofing.

jeeez!! Did I forgot to take my pills again?!! :huh: Nope.There is no register on skype of our conversation :whew:
I'll send you a message on skype to see if there is blockage or something. Too much transfat can have these results sometimes :tongue:

So, let me see if I understood: someone transcribed at minute 9 the contents that were supposed to be at minute 8? 8| Yeah. I guess the best is to transcribe at minute 8 and when you reach minute 9 you can just erase and write over whatever is there.

I want to give a help too, but it is not easy for me lately to be more online. I'll try, anyway :)

If you wish to dive into how to transcribe videos offline (offline tools are way better than dotsub in some aspects), let me know and I can guide you :seymour:

Hi Gang, I'm baaack. Sheesh, another disappearing act by me, this time for over 4 months! (since proofing PJ's CID 5 episode in May) But I finally have a free day or two to help out. So I'll take PR1 on this Suze. To your points below:

- I agree with the "1%"; much easier on the viewer eyes.

- arduous defined: "involving or requiring strenuous effort; difficult and tiring." Yes it seems unusual here but put it in the context of the human *labor* required to work with those giant heavy spools back then and/or climbing and stringing the wires from those poles as shown in the vid. That would have been incredibly arduous for the person doing it, no? I think that is Peter's context and I think the word is OK here. Perhaps he would have stated it better as: "(communication which used to require) enormous amounts of arduous [labor to string thousands of miles of] copper wire to facilitate phone calls." You just need to read between the lines I guess. :smiley:

- Alphonse Leggard is what appears in Peter's transcript so I think it's OK; I think we can safely assume it's a made-up gag name to go with the joke being told. Oh wait- it's not a joke, it's true! Know why? Because I heard it from some guy in a tie LOL!

And by the way Suze: a belated WELCOME to the team!
